2. Profile and Achievements

(1) Comprehensive Development

Jiaqi Zhao, a Software Engineering major, ranked third in the program's postgraduate recommendation ranking. In the first year of university, Jiaqi passed both the College English Test Band 4 (CET-4) and Band 6 (CET-6) in a single attempt. During the postgraduate recommendation process, Jiaqi received offers from several prestigious institutions, including the Hangzhou Institute for Advanced Study, University of Chinese Academy of Sciences, and the University of Electronic Science and Technology of China. Jiaqi received invitations to 15 summer camps, attended five on-site programs, and earned Outstanding Camper awards and provisional admission offers from five institutions. Ultimately, Jiaqi chose to pursue further studies at the Software Engineering Institute of East China Normal University, whose Software Engineering discipline has ranked first nationwide for three consecutive years.

In terms of overall performance, Jiaqi received the National Scholarship in 2024 and the Tianyan Scholarship in 2025, and was named a Tianjin Outstanding Student for two consecutive years. Jiaqi is currently an active applicant for membership in the Communist Party of China. In student affairs, Jiaqi has served as a study committee member, a mentor in the “Senior Student Support Program,” and a staff member of the university's Science and Technology Association.

(2) Research and Innovation

In academic competitions, Jiaqi has focused on strengthening engineering expertise and innovation skills. Jiaqi has received several honors, including a Third Prize in the National RC (Robot Contest) Robot Development Competition and a Third Prize in the National Computer Design Competition. Jiaqi also won a Third Prize in the Tianjin Division of the National Undergraduate Mathematics Competition and a Provincial Second Prize in the C++ category of the Lanqiao Cup Competition. In total, Jiaqi has earned three national-level awards, four provincial- or ministerial-level awards, and more than ten university-level awards.

In research, Jiaqi has actively engaged in advanced research training, emphasizing the integration of theoretical knowledge with practical applications. Jiaqi has participated in research projects under faculty supervision and has published one paper at a CCF-C-ranked conference and two papers at EI-indexed conferences. During the summer of 2025, Jiaqi completed a two-week research training program at the Institute of Software, Chinese Academy of Sciences, and was named an Outstanding Camper. Jiaqi also participated in a summer camp organized by Zhongguancun Academy in Beijing. As a national-level artificial intelligence training base jointly established with multiple universities, the academy promotes the integration of industry, academia, and research.

During the program, Jiaqi took part in activities spanning research, learning, and industry engagement. In research, Jiaqi participated in a 24-hour intensive product development challenge, representing Tianjin University of Science and Technology  and collaborating with students from Zhejiang University, Xi'an Jiaotong University, and other institutions to develop a product. In learning, Jiaqi attended a variety of lectures on cutting-edge academic developments. In industry engagement, Jiaqi visited Tencent's headquarters in Beijing to gain first-hand insight into the working environment and corporate culture of a leading technology company.

(3) Social Responsibility and Community Engagement

 In the area of social practice, Jiaqi Zhao has accumulated 360 hours of volunteer service and actively participated in initiatives such as the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) online teaching volunteer program and the “Three Rural Areas” social practice initiative.

Through the UNDP program, Jiaqi contributed to rural education support by delivering online lessons and engaging with students, helping promote more equitable access to educational resources. As a member of a national-level key team participating in the “Three Rural Areas” initiative, Jiaqi traveled to Guizhou Province to conduct field research on Miao medicinal culture. The team visited local enterprises and grassroots communities to carry out research and science outreach activities. Their work was reported by several media outlets, including *People’s Daily* and China.com, and received recognition from the Tianjin Municipal Committee of the Communist Youth League of China.

In addition, Jiaqi has written multiple news articles and social media posts as the first author, demonstrating a strong sense of social responsibility and effective communication skills.

Jiaqi Zhao has demonstrated well-rounded development across academics, research, competitions, and social practice, building a distinctive set of strengths that combines a solid academic foundation, research innovation, and practical application.

Jiaqi says that he will continue to uphold the belief that “great achievements stem from lofty aspirations, and success is built on diligence.” With firm ideals and convictions, he will embrace challenges, strive for excellence, and turn these valuable experiences into motivation for future growth. As a young person of the new era, Jiaqi aspires to contribute the vitality and passion of youth to the development of the nation.
