The college of AI was founded in 2000, we renamed it as the college of AI in 2019. In 2021, it was approved as a Tianjin Characteristic Demonstration Software College, and in 2023, the AI Modern Industry College was established.

The college of AI mainly focuses on undergraduate education while also developing postgraduate education. Currently, we have eight undergraduate majors, namely Computer Science and Technology, Software Engineering, Internet of Things Engineering, Computer Science and Technology (Information Processing), Intelligent Science and Technology, Data Science and Big Data Technology, Artificial Intelligence, Digital Media Technology, and an experimental class of "Intelligent Science and Advanced Manufacturing". Among them, the Software Engineering major is the Tianjin first-class major construction point and the Tianjin advantaged and characteristic major. The Internet of Things Engineering major is a Tianjin first-class major construction point and an applied undergraduate major in Tianjin. For the majors of Computer Science and Technology, Software Engineering, Internet of Things Engineering, and Artificial Intelligence are key construction majors for emerging engineering education in Tianjin. There are currently two first-level discipline master's degree authorization points in Software Engineering and Intelligent Science and Technology, as well as a master's professional degree authorization point in Electronic Information. There are more than 2,800 undergraduate students and more than 360 postgraduate students on campus.

The college currently has 130 faculty and staff members, including 103 full-time teachers. Among the full-time teachers, there are 14 professors and 34 associate professors. Nearly 20 of them have been recognized through prestigious talent majors, such as the Henan Province Science Fund for Distinguished Young Scholars, Tianjin Distinguished Professors, Tianjin Teaching Masters, Henan High-Level Talents, Tianjin Discipline Leaders, Tianjin Introduced Leading Talents, Tianjin Key Innovative Talents, first-, second-, and third-level talents of the Tianjin "131" Talent Project, and Tianjin Reserve Talents for Higher Education Institutions. Additionally, over 20 teachers have overseas study experience. The teaching teams for the Software Engineering and Internet of Things Engineering majors are recognized as Tianjin Teaching Teams, and the Database Application and Development teaching team is designated as a Tianjin Curriculum Ideology and Politics Teaching Team.

The college offers one national first-class undergraduate course, three Tianjin municipal first-class undergraduate courses, one Tianjin Curriculum Ideology and Politics Demonstration Course, and one Tianjin virtual simulation project. It has been awarded one first-class prize and three second-class prizes for Tianjin Teaching Achievement Awards. Additionally, it has received one third-class prize in the National University Teachers Innovation Competition and one third-class prize in the Tianjin Division. Over the past three years, students have won 526 awards at or above the provincial and ministerial level, including 64 national awards in Class A competitions such as the "Internet Plus" Competition and the "Challenge Cup" Competition. Notably, the college achieved historic breakthroughs by winning a gold medal in the China International College Students Innovation Competition (2023) and a silver medal in the China International College Students Innovation Competition (2024). One student also won a gold medal in the employment track of the first National College Student Career Planning Contest.

There are 9 scientific research teams. In the past five years, the college has won 12 provincial and ministerial-level scientific and technological progress awards and 9 Tianjin teaching achievement awards. It actively promotes industry-university-research cooperation and has been approved for more than 50 Ministry of Education collaborative education projects in emerging engineering education, artificial intelligence, big data, etc., ranking first in Tianjin.

The school attaches great importance to domestic and international academic exchanges. In the past five years, it has held many influential academic conferences, including the "National Postdoctoral Academic Forum on Information Innovation and Artificial Intelligence" in 2021 and 2022, the "6th Signal Processing and Machine Learning" International Conference in 2023, and the 20th International Conference on Intelligent Computing in 2024.
